PERS REBRANDING/COMMUNICATIONS
Hired in 2008 as communications director for the Public Employees' Retirement System of Mississippi (PERS), my primary responsibility was, initially, to rebrand the agency and then to further that brand over the ensuing years.
I began by creating a new logo that represented the cyclic nature of saving for retirement and then living off those savings once retired. Since updating the logo, I have redesigned, edited and, at times, rewritten or restructured all other agency materials (e.g., letterhead, business cards, handbooks, forms, newsletters, etc.). I have also expanded the publication offerings by creating new materials, like a series of retirement guides that have become ready reference tools for staff and members. I also completely redesigned and restructured the agency website, which was coded by Mississippi Interactive.
